Well Edward was not a very nice person seems he murdered his wife, newspaper report makes interesting reading!
There is an extensive tree on Ancestry about this family but names back go Edward 1819 Thomas 1766 Joseph 1677, Thomas 1650 and Robert 1621 all from Darlaston Staffordshire sorry to add more confusion to you tree!!! best wishes

Yes he did do that and was moved to Port Arthur in Tassie, was set free after a while and remarried and had other children. The info i have from Cambridgeshire Isle of Ely that Thomas Butler LL.D. early 18th century is ancestor to the Butlers of Tasmania and that is me. Yes and it is very confusing because you don't know which line to take, and thank you for your reply with regards Brian
