trying to trace my grandfather - surname HARDEN
Have discovered he was a Lieutenant in the Army - the Machine Gun Corps - stationed in
Tralee, Ireland in 1921 when my father was born. Before that he was in Deal, Kent in
1920 where my father's brother was born (he was not in the Army then). I then find
Him in Hull where another son was born in 1922 and no longer in the Army.
There the trail goes cold until 1929 when my grandmother remarries in Walthamstow
and she is described as a widow on that marriage certificate. I haven't been able to
Find a death certificate for him for the years between the birth of his last child in
1922 and my grandmother's remarriage in 1929.

Hi,
Could you please give us your Grandfather's first name and middle name if he has
one. Do you know his parents names? All this information will help us to help
you in your search.
His full name is Albert Edward Harden. I have no information about his parents. My grandmother's name is Kate n?e Holmes and she gave birth to a daughter in 1919 in Thornton-le-Fen, Lincolnshire. She is unmarried and the father's details have been left blank but the child's name was given as Denise Harden. On the birth certificate of the next child in Deal,Kent in 1920 my grandmother's name is shown as Kate Harden formerly Holmes and my grandfather's details are shown as the father. I have been unable to find a marriage certificate for my grandparents.
Have you thought of this one, might be worth a closer look

Thank you for that info. The Sheffield marriage you found could not be my grandparents as
My grandmother gave birth to her first child in March 1919 at Thornton-le-Fen in Lincolnshire. The birth certificate shows she was unmarried. I'm not sure the military info you found is my grandfather. He was a second lieutenant in the machine gun corps and was with the army in Tralee, Ireland when my father was born in May 1921. By June 1922 when the last child was born the family were living in Hedon Road, Hull. On the birth certificate my grandfather's occupation is described as "grocer own account". Going back to 1920, the family were living in High Street, Deal, Kent where the second child was born and on this birth certificate my grandfather's occupation is given as "of independent means".
