Looking for father of George Washington Brock (1811-1859)
I am looking to find the father and/or siblings for George Washington Brock. Below is an obit on him. I have validated this information and found his grave in Gardner, KS.
The deceased was formerly a resident of Belmont county, and emigrated from Ohio in 1833 to Fulton county, Illinois, and from thence to Johnson county, Kansas, in Oct., 1858. In early life he became the subject of religion, and was connected with the M.E. Church. Through life he maintained a character in harmony with his profession. His affliction, which was short but severe, was borne with patience and resignation to the Divine will. His funeral was attended by a large number of his friends and acquaintances, and conducted according to the usage and under the direction of Masonic Fraternity, and all testified by their presence their esteem of his character and respect of his memory. The sermon preached by the Rev. Davis, from the XVth chapter, 1st Cor., and XXIst verse:
Also, his first wife died in 1854 in Fulton County. He then moved the family to Kansas but went back and married Ester Shattock in 1856. They had one son, William Henry. I know that Esther remarried, but can't find anymore information on her or William.
Also, three of his children married Cadwalader's. Mary Jane married Thomas before moving with George to KS, Jesse Cowen (my great grandfather) married Sarah Elizabeth and Benjamin Franklin married Susan. The following children ended up living with Mary and Thomas after George's death: Jesse, Benjamin, Elizabeth and Alonzo in KS. Jesse and Benjamin went back to IL, married and had substantial farms.
I have more information if anyone is interested, but am really trying to find information on George's parents.
Thank you for any assistance you can provide.
