How to research the history of a house

Ada Florence Rackstraw was a domestic servant at 10 Murray Road Ruislip Northwood England from around 1930 up until around 1937. I believe the property was known as "Tudor Lodge" and I think owned by Frank Murray Maxwell Hallowell Carew. Ada was working for someone connected with this property an if I can find out who Ada was working for I could possibly learn more about Ada.
My question is, how do you research the history of a house or in my case discover a list of ownership of a particular property?
