I had a quick look at the birth records today and found three children for James CHAFFEY and Ann BUTLER.

Ruby would have been born circa 1906 but I could not find her birth in the Victorian records.

Will have a look for Ruby's parents tomorrow.

DIVORCE
James Henry Chaffey, a Queenscliff, painter, was, to-day granted a decree nisi
for the dissolution of his marriage with his wife Mary Ellen Chaffey. The pair
were married at, Newtown, near Geelong in 1893, by the Rev. S. Day, and they lived at Geelong and Queenscliff till 1899. During, this period she left home on three or four occasions and remained away for several weeks and months.
Finally she disappeared altogether, and he did not hear of her again till she sued
him in Melbourne for mainitenance, but the Bench, while making an order for the maintenance of the children refused to make one in her favor.

William Thomas Butler was a builder. He seems to have done well for himself according to his Will at the Public Records Office (available online). Annie Chaffey is mentioned. There is also a Will for a William Thomas Butler who died in 1907 Geelong. Looks like Annie's brother?

This is all very overwhelming, it is very confusing with having same names, I think Annie butler is my grandmother, but I don't know when she died, it would have to be after 1944. Do u do this full time.?

Just take you time. There is a lot of information to process. If you start getting some certificate it will make it clearer. Just come back and use this information as a reference when it suits you. Just do one line of the family at a time.
