There is something odd there Death 2 Sep 1915

According to army records was reported missing in action France 2 Sep 1918 and then reported killed. He did not leave Sydney until 4 Sep 1916

There was no mention of a wife so i do not think there are Descendants

Yes, I have his army records. He was killed on 2/9/1918 near Peronne. Looks like whoever put his name on his mother's grave misread the year, and thought the 8 was a 5. I know there wouldn't be direct descendants, but he had brothers, so thought someone down the line might be researching. I would love a photo of him. I have been researching all the Men from Snowy River marchers (Montie was one of them), as I live in Delegate, which is where that march began. Thanks for your help.

Daughter of James and Mary A Spencer.

The only possibly explanation is the stonemason was given wrong date, or he made a mistake!! The CWGC site confirms death as 2 Sept 1918.

Looks like William Charles death date on the Grave stone is also incorrect

Thanks so much for your help. Maybe his sisters descendants might contact us, as there is going to be a re-enactment of the Men from Snowy River march next year, and we are advertising it far and wide hoping descendants will join the march. Cheers
