Looking for information on John Edward Ward from Chesley, Ontario

It seems I have run into a road block. I can not get further information for my great-grandfather, John Ward who was born in Chesley, Elderslie County Ontario. His son John Edward Ward is my grandfather but, there seems to be two John Edward Wards. Can anyone clear this up for me.

johnwardphoto on 2014-10-30 19:42:18I have researched James Ward (b 1811) married to Mary Ann Tuckey (b 1816) as possible great - great grandparents. Their son was John Ward (b 1854) in Bruce County, Chesley Ontario.
From one source online (robertward77, not me!) he has John Ward married to Ellen Smith. I have John Ward married to Hannah Hope (b 1848).
I can't find any instance of an Ellen Smith anywhere. It could be another wife, an error od robertward77 or possibly I am in error.
If I am correct and John Ward was married to Hannah Hope, I can trace back as far as James Ward (b 1811) married to Mary Ann Tuckey (b 1816)
My question. How can I find out if John Ward (b 1854) was married to Ellen Smith or Hannah Hope?
