James Hays (Augusta VA) and his son Jeremiah of McCracken Co, Ky

Query by sdr63

I'm needing to find proof of lineage between James Hays, who fought Rev. War at Battle of Blue Licks, KY and later moved to Montgomery Co. MO....and his son Jeremiah Hays, husband of Martha "Patsy" Doyle/Doyel of McCracken Co. KY. Can be land transaction, probate, etc. Just something that will definitively document their relationship somehow.

Yes it is. All indications point to Jeremiah being the son of James Hays and Rebecca Hendricks. Jeremiah was born in Sumner County, TN @ 1788 or so. James was a Pvt. In the NC militia(proven by the War service land grants he received). He sold/assigned his 640 acres to Maj. Hugh McGary (also proven by documents from NC) and moved his family farther west into KY. Jeremiah married Martha in Warren County, KY and he ended up in McCracken County. His daughter Melissa Hays married Jesse Rollins/Rawlins and settled in neighboring Ballard County. I am a descendant in this line. My SAR application is dependant on providing solid evidence that Jeremiah was James Hays' son. That link is the only thing missing. I can prove marriage of Jeremiah and Martha "Patsy" Doyle. I just need to prove his parentage.

Thanks for any clues or evidence you can provide.
Steve Ritter.
