I have found the likely parents of your Edmund Stanley Foote.
Rebecca Elizabeth Caroline Carr married Stanley Allan Foote on 9 April 1917.BDM REf1917/2422
I also found this in Papers Past.

My grandmother Rebecca Elizabeth Foote's mother was born in Illusgillon Ireland.Her name was Rebecca Elizabeth Carr.Who was her father & how did they arrive in Dunedin?
