Active Journals

Journal by Scott_J

Many journals are specific to certain families and surnames. But others are of general interest, and it is my hope that there will be more contributions that are of general genealogy topics. If you have anything to share -- fun stuff, how-to's, your favorite websites, post it in a journal!

Always keep track of all the latest journal activity through one of the following methods:

- Active Journals: This page has been updated to display the most recently active journals, including comments. So if there are active conversations going on in a journal, they'll filter to the top of this list. There's a link to this page in the header of every page.

- RSS Feed: Subscribe to the Family Tree Circles RSS feed and be notified when any new journals are added. This will not be updated as journals are commented on. You can also get a feed of only the members that you have "subscribed" to. There's a link to that RSS feed in your profile.

Scott Jangro is the owner of FamilyTreeCircles.com and has documented roots back to Mayflower passengers Stephen Hopkins and William Brewster. If you're wondering what he's doing when he's mysteriously absent, here's some links to other stuff he's responsible for: about.me/jangro.

Hi Scott

Please can you explain why some members have registered as Researchers, but dont give even brief details some never even do a short Journal.
As a newbie on site I truly can't understand.
Each time I gain a little bit more info on my relations I like many others add that to our Journals in hope....maybe to find long lost cousins.....cheers for a brilliant site...Summer

Hi Summer. Thanks for the comment.

I think some people sign up to see what info is here, but for whatever reason, don't feel like contributing. Also, lots of people sign up to contact others privately.

For every journal that's posted, there's probably at least one private message that is sent. Instead of commenting on journals, or writing new ones, lots of people contact others privately. Thousands of private messages have been delivered through this site.

What's the saying? You can lead a horse to water...

Hi all, hoping everyone is enjoying all the good links I've been finding.

If I come across some big family trees, I've been typing the surnames within the journal. As there are sooo many websites out there, it would be impossible to find the surname you are researching otherwise.

Come on peoples, write those journals, you may actually end up helping yourself by getting contacts.

COMPLIMENTS to Scott_J. I just found my husband's grandfather's name, all his siblings and parents names through this website. They were all New Zealand Maori and my husband had been adopted out at birth. Wonderful news to finally know some information after almost 40 years!!!

Hi
It seems that many people are using the journal as a message board. There are plenty of message boards out there and these so-called journals are just cluttering up what is otherwise an excellent (and different) website.
