Jane Ann (Chandler) Mason, 74

MENTOR - Jane Ann (Chandler) Mason, age 74, formerly of Chester, WV. went to be with her Lord in the early hours of April 2, 2015, two weeks shy of her 75th birthday while under the care of the Hospice of the Western Reserve at Kemper House of Mentor. She was preceded in death by her parents, E.R. "Pete" Chandler and Helen (Lewis) Chandler, and her husband of nearly 50 years Walter H. Mason.

Mrs. Mason is survived by her son John Chandler Mason (Joan Moore) of Wilmington, Del. and daughter Helen Mason Suchy (Ronald) of Mayfield Heights, Ohio; grandchildren Joshua Morgan Mason, Daniel Taylor Mason, Ann Elisabeth Suchy and Joseph Walter Suchy; her sister Hester (Chandler) Werner of Menomonee Falls, Wis.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Mason was a graduate of Chester High School in Chester, W.Va. and West Virginia University with a degree in elementary education and advanced study in the education of gifted children. She taught in Morgantown, W.Va; New Orleans, La.; and Wheeling, W.Va. She also worked for several years at the Upton's gift shop within Wilson Lodge at Oglebay Park. Mrs. Mason was a giving spirit who committed herself to her family, her church and her community.A model of volunteerism, her contributions are too many to list. She was especially committed to her church, particularly children's programs, and was an ordained deacon and elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA). She was proud to be a survivor of breast cancer, and her loss is deeply felt by all who love her.

Throughout her life, she was beloved by everyone who knew her. Mrs. Mason desired to eradicate diseases including Lewy Body Dementia and breast cancer. She furthered this goal through her final gift, donating her earthly body to the Cleveland Clinic Foundation for research and study. A memorial service will be held at Lyndhurst Community Presbyterian Church at 5321 Mayfield Road in Lyndhurst, Ohio on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. Family will receive friends at a dessert reception following the service from 7-9 p.m. in LCPC's Bloomfield Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Hospice of Western Reserve at 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, Ohio 44110 or www.hospicewr.org.
