I am researching Alfred and Rebecca Dawson (nee Trezise)who immigrated from Hobart Tasmania (Alfred) and Rebecca (Cornwall) to New Zealand. Alfred was 9 when he came to NZ from Tasmania and I know his parents stayed in Tasmania. I am thinking he may have come over with a family member. There is a William Dawson who resided in Otago, maybe an uncle (wild card). Rebecca arrived in NZ at the age of 20 aboard the "Blairgowrie" at Lyttleton from London in August 1875. She married Alfred in December 1875.

I have come to a standing point at present with finding out how Alfred came to NZ and where he lived prior to ending up in Christchurch. He was born in 1847 so was 28 when he married Rebecca.

Any info on Dawson family may be of some help.
