Hello -

I am looking for information / documentation about Samuel Nichols Van Fleet, b. 1821/ 22 in Kentucky. He was a son of Joshua John Van Fleet, Jr. and Mary Ann Nichols. The family moved from Ontario County, NY to KY sometime after 1817. His siblings were Martin Nichols VF, Henry Harrison VF, Sabra Samantha VF, Sally Nichols VF and Edwin L. VF He also had a few half siblings.

Samuel married Amelia B. Warren abt 1850, I believe in Illinois. I have found a few Samuel Van Fleets in the civil war records – but other information doesn’t add up. I have also found him listed in several Van Fleet family trees but without documentation except for an 1850 IL census.
