Edward and Jane Coade (Willoughby)
Edward and Jane Coade and family immigrated to South Autralia in 1856 on the ship LORD RAGLAN, arriving at Port Adelaide in February 1856 Their children were Jane Coade, Mary Coade and James Coade born 1850. His wife Jane must have died on arrival or soon after. The Register Newspaper reported the ship's arrival and passenger list, which included the whole family under the mis-spelt name of Doade. In September 1856, Edward married again at Glen Osmond Manse in September 1856. The groom's details re father, age, etc validate that this was the right Edward Coade. The bride was Mary Kearns, single, aged approx 17, her father was William Kearns. No date of death has been discovered for his first wife Jane Willoughby.

His son James was approximately 6 years old at the time of this 2nd Marriage. He married Elizabeth Newsome. James Coad died in 1896,in Adelaide, South Australia His wife Elizabeth Coad, was left in poor circumstances to raise their children, at Houghton in the Adelaide Hill. She was investigated by the Childrens Board and some of the children were taken from her care. Details provided in a transcript forwarded by Rose Ward. Which unfortunately have been misplaced.
Their son William Coad, born 1889 at Highercombe,(Houghton), married Eleaonora Ernestine Mathilde Gallas, born 1894 at Springton SA. Their son Kenneth Vincent Coad is my father, born Sept 1920. He married Alice Elizabeth Burge, 20 January 1944.
Edward's parents were Edward Coade, snr and Julia Coade. Born St Columb, Cornwall, England.
