MUMBY—MURRAY.-On May 8, 1918, at Holy Trinity Church, Stratford, by the Rev. C. W. Howard, Edward Burton, second son of Robert Mumby, Esq., Auckland, to Gladys Sidilla, eldest daughter of J. D. Murray, Esq., Stratford.

Stratford, May 10. WEDDING. A quiet but pretty wedding took place at Holy Trinity Church, Stratford, on May 8, when Mr. Edward B. Mumby, second son of Mr. Robert Mum by, Auckland, was married to Miss Gladys Siddilia Murray, eldest daughter of Mr. .]. D. Murray, Stratford, the officiating minister being the Rev. C. W. Howard. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a pretty white dress of accordion-pleated chiffon and silk, with satin girdle and the orthodox veil and orange blossoms. She carried a beautiful bouquet of tuber and Queen Alexandra roses, with maidenhair and asparagus fern. The bridesmaid. Miss Edith K. Murray (sister) wore a white silk smocked jumper and skirt, with black plush and pink crepe-de-chine hat, and carried a bouquet of double pink cosmos and maidenhair fern. Mr. H. Robinson (Eltham) was attendant on the bridegroom. At the wedding breakfast, given by the bride's parents, the usual toasts were honored, after which Mr. and Mrs. Mumby left per motor car for Hawera, en route to Auckland and Rotorua, where the honeymoon will be spent. The bride's travelling outfit consisted of a neat tailor-made costume of navy blue serge, with hat to match. The bridegroom's present to the bride was a handsome set of furs, and to the bridesmaid a gold bangle. The bride's present to the bridegroom was a gold pendant. The wedding presents were both handsome and useful.

Oh I see now, Edward Burton Mumby was married twice.
So Gladys was the step-mother. well unless she had children of her own there wouldn't be anyone with a pic.

Yes! no other researcher that I can see shows Charlotte as the first wife and mother of Lawrence and Richard. BTW on the marriage reg. the surname of Darten is shown which is a transcription error. The surname is SARTEN.Some had Charlotte louisa's older sister Alice Maud Matilda SARTEN as Edward's first wife I can assure you this is incorrect. Alice Maud Matilda SARTEN died at 5 months of age in 1870.

At the regular meeting of the Druids' Lodge, held last night, a vote of condolence was passed with Bro. Mumby in his bereavement through the death of his wife.

Levi Sarten, is said to be the first European child landed by the first ship to New Plymouth on March 31, 1841. His mother was ill and left the ship earlier than the other passengers Levi was a babe in arms.

Thank You I do know that Edward deserted Gladys and the children and he took his first 2 boys to Australia to live and dropped the Mumby surname and went under Burton, their he re married, Gladys gave up their children put them into boys home Eltham, then Gladys re married to Frederick James Richards 1934 their first child I am not sure if he is a Mumby or a Richards as of the dates, very interesting.
