Seeking info on Hoek family in the Netherlands

The farthest back I've been able to go with my Hoek ancestors is to Jan Wessels Hoek's(1767 in Ommen, Netherlands-1839) parents, Johan or Jan Conraat Hoek and Gesina or Geesje Wessels. I read that Jan was a solider in Ommen 1765,1767.
Would like to find out more about him and who he would have been fighting against at this time in the Netherlands.
