I have been tracing the lineage of William McClure Worley who lived in Botetourt, Virginia. His father, Charles Bright moved across the Peaks of Otter mountain from the Bedford area with his wife, Mary Virginia Arrington. The Bedford Worleys are harder to trace because they lived in Bedford before the 1850s. I believe, but can't prove that Charles' father was Richard A. Whorley and he may have had brothers named Talbert and Francis. I'm stuck here. I'm trying to connect them to the Worleys that moved from Pennsylvania in the late 1700's.

Are you referring to the family of Henry Worley and Anne Stone Worley-Pusey? I don't find a William McClure Worley in our line, but thats not to say its impossible he could be. We have David Worley marring Hannah McClure in 1783 in Fincastle, Botetourt Co. Virginia.

Some sort of dates would be helpful, as I have about 50 William Worleys in the line. When you talk about the Bedford Worleys are you referring to the Bedford Pennsylvania area? This location had several early Worley family members in it for a time...About 1760, Achor Worley, and his brothers Brace Jr, Anthony, Joseph, and Ezekiel,headed up to ole' Cumberland Co Penn, the area to later become Bedford Co. Achor and Ezekiel will die here; Ezekiel will serve Rev War from here. After about ten years, Brace Jr, Anthony, and Joseph will push further west, Ole' Monongalia Va, western Penn, etc.

Richard Worley lived in Bedford, Va. Charles moved to Botetourt County, Va. around 1870. His son was William McClure Worley. We think that Richard may have been a son of Henry because he lived near Henry's family after 1850.
