Years ago, my mother and I began researching the family of Tennie DUTTON, my maternal grandmother. Granny Dutton was born September 27, 1898 in Georgetown, Williamson County, Texas.
On November 19, 1919, she eloped to Stratford, Garvin County, Oklahoma with William Allen DUTTON. Granny and Grandpa were married for 51 years until his death on November 4, 1970 at their home near Marlow, Oklahoma. There were 8 children born to them.

Tennie's parents were Alford Milton HACKER and Orlena DAVIDSON. Alford was born on March 23, 1871 in Brutus, Clay County, Kentucky to Granville Levi HACKER and Rachel BURNS.
Alford's first wife was Emma COOPER. They were married January 9, 1891 in Magoffin County, Kentucky. They had one daughter, Bessie. Bessie was raised by her paternal grandparents, Levi & Rachel HACKER.
Alford and Emma were divorced.

Alford married Orlena DAVIDSON on July 20, 1893 in Clay County, Kentucky. Orlena was a daughter of Robert DAVIDSON and Militia(Melissa?) HELTON. Thirteen children were born to Alford and Orlena, three of whom died in infancy.

Alford moved his wife and infant daughter, Lillie, to Williamson County, Texas in 1895 and remained there for nearly 10 years. In 1903 they returned to Kentucky, residing there for a 4 years. The family came back west in 1907, settling in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma. From there they moved to Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.

It isn't known when they arrived in Grady County, Oklahoma. In 1924, Alford purchased a farm 8 and a half miles west and 2 miles south of Minco, Grady County, Oklahoma.

Orlena HACKER died on July 30, 1933 in Chickasha, Grady County, Oklahoma. Alford HACKER died on January 28, 1943 in El Reno, Oklahoma. They are both buried in Friendship Cemetery.
Alford had donated the land on which Friendship Cemetery is located. Friendship Cemetery is located southwest of Minco, Oklahoma.

It is believed that Alford's mother, Rachel (BURNS) HACKER, was a child born on the Trail of Tears and given to the BURNS family in Clay County, Kentucky.
