Question by lfchivell

She had a brother Martin Lavars who is well documented in the early history of Broadmeadows/Greenvale. I know she is part of this family as she is referenced as Mrs Hill in the death notice of her sister Emily. The ARgus 9/4/1906.

Thanks in advance for any help. I'm off to the library to read John and Martin Lavar's entries in Alexander Sutherland's book with fingers crossed they reference my gg-grandmother.

cheers laureen

Hi Kathy. Thanks for pulling this together for me. Much appreciated.

It highlighted to me that I left out one important fact. Oops. Her parents (father John Lavars arrived from England around 1840) and her mother Mary Sullivan (arrived from Cork Ireland ??) married in 1842 in Mebourne. From another branch of my family tree (the Hills) the belief is that my gg-grandmother Margaret Lavars was born about 1845 in Moonee Ponds. I cannot find any birth record for her even though I have copies of her older sister's 1843 and her next sibling Martin 1848 birth records which is annoying.

However I do feel much more confident that I have the correct family after reading various journal entries by itellya on this site. Thank you.

So once again thank you for your efforts and time, cheers Laureen
