Mary E Cowan nee Maher 1843 - 1906
I am seeking information on Mary E (Cowan) nee MAHER born Liverpool UK 5th Feb 1843 to Edward and Anne Maher, and emigrated to Australia on the Greyhound, arriving in Melbourne, Australia in 26th September 1863. She emigrated alone on assisted passage - both her parents had passed away.
Mary married Norman MacLeod Cowen from Grafton, NSW Aust. - born Isle of Skye 1822 - in Darlinghurst Sydney, Aust on 15th January 1866 and their daughter Alexandrina Cowan (my GG) was born 6th December 1866 in Grafton NSW Aust. Her marriage certificate shows that she lived in Sydney.
Mary Maher died in Sydney NSW 15th December 1906 aged 63 and Norman her husband died aged 50 in a horse riding accident at Grafton in 1872.
I can find no record of Mary after she gave birth to my great grandmother Alexandrina and her husband Norman did not leave her anything in his will (left all in trust to my GG Alexandrina).
If anyone has any records of her I would be very keen to find out information. Did she live in Grafton after she gave birth. Where did she live in Sydney. How did she meet my GG Norman I can't find any records for her. She appeared not to remarry or have any other children. Thanks if anyone has info.

Hi I found a funeral notice in the Sydney Morning Herald dated Nov 3 1906- Jan 26 1907
This was for a Mary Elizabeth Cowan her children were David and Ella
I don.t think this is her. I will keep looking
HI- no I don't believe so. To my knowledge she had no other children. thanks.
The article on his death makes interesting reading lots of info on his parents brother but only mentions at the bottom of article that he was a married man with a 6 year old daughter who he has provided for in his will
