KINGSTON, Robert (DOB circa 1705) marries HELLYIER, Anne - Cameley, Somerset
My earliest confirmed KINGSTON ancester is Robert Kingston who marries Ann Hellyier in Cameley. According to the reading of their banns, both are "of this parish" yet prior to their marriage, Robert Kingston is not recorded in the Church records and nor does he appear in any other records from the local area. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

He may not have lived in the parish.
The rule was if the couple were from two different parishes the banns were to be read at both parishes therefore the couple had to pay 2 churches the cost of reading the banns over the three weeks in both parishes. So to save money one of the couple moved into the other's parish. I can't put my hands on the papers at the moment but I think you only needed to be resident for a few months.
Thank you so much for this info.
FYI. I've had my DNA tested (111 marker) and found one confirmed cousin (FT definitely connects us) in the Somerset area (same region as Robery & Ann come from), and another "cousin" in Staffordshire (have seen David's FT, but at present, does not show a known connection).
Thanks again for your contact; any help and/or suggestions are greatfully appreciated.
Cheers
John.
