I am researching the Bible's, Johannes Adam Biebel ancestry, english translation, Bible. They migrated across the sea to USA around 1700 to Philadelphia Harbor from Alsace,France.
I have hit the "brick wall"!! My grandfather was brought up in the Paddington Workhouse and am unable to locate the identity of his parents. He is ARTHUR GARRETT, born Paddington (workhouse?) on 5 January 1869. The Board of Guardians' Register of Children chageable to Paddington (PABG 116/1) shows that, at the age of 5, he was at the West London School at Ashford in Middlesex for several years before going to the training ship Exmouth. His religion was shown as "Church of England". I have further details to exchange for anyone who is searching the same person. Harry Garrett, Malta
garretts still exist is Newfoundland, They came from Bram ford abbass (not Spelled right). They can be traced from that county in England back to the 1500's.
sarnia51 server down lost message---Garretts came from Dorset--town Bram ford abbass(not spelled correct). Some went to eastern part of United States. Some to central Newfoundland and some to Cape Freeles/Greenspond Newfoundland. Can trace them back to that county (Dorset). They go back to 1500's.
Hi Maher, Found the Nfld. areas you mentioned...where were you able to find the U.K. connections? Is there anyone else resarching the Garretts? Thanks for the help.

Hello,
I have traced my Garratt line back to Haxey,Lincolnshire, UK around 1535. I'm not sure if our Garratts are connected though. I am the last Garratt, in my line, to be born in UK, before immigrating to USA. Willing to help.

hi im a Garrett from bc canada one of my family members is catherine parr
Hi,
My grandfather, Thomas Henry Lennox, was known as Henry or Harry Garrett as a child. He was born Dec. 12, 1878, and was registered as the illegimate child of Elizabeth Garrett, age 19,who was living with her parents John and Esther Garrett, originally from England. They were living in Ontario in Hullett Township, Huron Centre at the time of his birth.
I am wondering if there are any of his Garrett relatives around?
He eventually lived in Manitoba and in Saskatchewan. Later became a physician in Montreal. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Anne
found out late in life my grandmothers family left newfoundland under a different name but was really garrett . they left by boat unexpectedly and assumed a different name
I am trying to trace the lives of my Garrett ancestors who emigrated to Canada, and then to New Zealand with a brief spell of fighting for their country.
The last UK Census in 1881 indicates they were living in the Paddington area of London as follows.
1881 Census living at 9 Craven Terrace, Paddington
Charles W. Garrett 41 Schoolmaster
Jane S. Garrett 41
Charles W. Garrett 17 Pupil Teacher born Paddington, Middlesex
Christina J. Garrett 15 born Paddington, Middlesex
Ellen M. Garrett 12 born Paddington, Middlesex
Walter H. Garrett 11 born Paddington, Middlesex
Arthur E. Garrett 9 born Paddington, Middlesex
Fred C. Garrett 5 born Paddington, Middlesex
Lucy G. Garrett 9 months born Paddington, Middlesex.
I believe they all emigrated.
I believe they left the UK in 1887 and that according to family stories Charles William Garrett built houses, broke in 320 acres of ground, planted crops, dug wells, etc etc and his sons went off to fight in the Boar War as part of Lord Strathcona's Horse then Canadian Mounted rifles, after which some stayed in Canada and some emigrated to Australia and to New Zealand.
I would appreciate any help in being able to track down what happened in their lives before and after they left the UK.
