An accidental hit!
I've been researching my own family history and now my husbands for a number of years now. It's a quest to leave some sort of roots legacy to our descendants. This morning I 'googled' Donnaghmore to Shambo, Borris in Ossary, Laois to try and match a birth registration for my husband's relative, Kyron Brophy c. 1870. Up came a post from Family Tree Circles from seven years ago with information about Kyron's parents, Edward (Ned) Brophy and Mary Whelan, naming all their children. I hope that I can connect with this member.
So some family names on my husband's side are Brophy, Whelan/Phelan/Whalen, O'Neill, Malone, Heneghan, Murphy, O'Donoghue, Vaughan.
Some of my surnames are Cassidy, Owens, Henderson, Burns, Gallager, O'Brien, Tobin, Keating, Lewis, Sharples, O'Donnell, Welch/Walsh, Kevil, Jackson, Weir, Dunne, Duffy, Pimley, Norris, Sharrocks and many more!
Most of my lines emigrated to England and America during the Irish Famine. My father, James Cassidy brought the family back to Ireland for the first time since then a couple of months after I was born. My mother's mother was an O'Donnell from Dublin.
Looking forward to engaging with this forum from time to time.
