Hi Mandy, Don't know if you're looking for him & his family but there is a tree here for a John James Shufflebottom. Born 1808 in Burslem, Staffordshire. Sentenced to life for street robbery, on 24 July 1829, in Derby Assizes, England. Sent to Australia as a Convict on 11 Aug 1829 on the 'Morley.' Arrived 2 Dec 1829 in Sydney.
* Ticket of Leave 18 Dec 1837 Port Macquarie, NSW
He married Ellen Elana Butler (1820-1895) from County Cork, & had at least 9 children. After John died in 1857 Ellen changed all their names to Stevens
Armidale Express, 9 May 1857 reports on the untimely death of 'Curly' and asks "why a body bearing the impression of God's image upon its brow, should be left unprotected for a whole night, in a Bush, in a solitude unbroken save by the howl of the native dog and the croak of the disgusting crow"

Thank you, i am a great great great granddaughter. I would love to get a copy of a book that I’ve seen was written by Gary Bryant, Shufflebottom to Stevens.
Henry is my great great grandfather and Catherine, my great grandmother.
