General geneology searches for Robeck and variations.
I have been researching on the internet using my surname and finding some very interesting facts.
I found Robeck's in Europe, South Africa, Australia, Scandinavia and of course, North America, even some Pacific islands. It does seem that the name sprung up in several areas about the same time, so it doesn't seem like all would be directly related. In Great Britain, it is as De Robeck or De Roebuck, in France; Robecque or Robeque. In Germany, Robeck or Rubeck are some versions, as well as Rohbeck or Rohrbeck. All names probably probably derived from the small deer, known as a Roe Buck. I don't know if the families hunted, raised or just liked them, but, they must have had some impact on their lives.
There are some royalty with this name, but, probably only because they lived in a place named after Robeck, like a castle on the French river, the Robec.
Tim Robeck has a great amount of data on our name, just search using his name on any websearch. If you have any questions or information for my research, please contact me.
