OBITUARY of MR WILLIAM MCCARRON, Senr.

It is with regret we (says the Peak Hill "Express") have to announce the death of Mr. William McCarron Senr., of Mingelo Street, an old and esteemed resident, which took place on Tuesday last at the ripe age of 90. Deceased, who had been ailing for some time, had been confined to his bed since the first week in December, the immediate cause of death being senile decay. The late Mr. McCarron was a native of Tyrone, north of Ireland, and arrived in Australia about 27 years age, taking up his residence in Kyneton, Victoria, where he followed his trade as a blacksmith. Subsequently he proceeded to the famous Shepparton district of which he and his brothers were the early pioneers, and entered into farming pursuits, later going to Numurkah. In 1905 he sold out and came to Tocumwal, in New South Wales, where together with his sons, he engaged in chaffcutting for seven years with much success. In 1912 the late Mr. McCarron purchased farming property in Mungery, and resided there until 1921, when he retired and came to reside in town, his son, Mr. R. McCarron, taking over the farm and is still in possession. Deceased was very well-known throughout the district, and deservedly bore a reputation for unsullied integrity, and his death is generally regretted. His two brothers, Hugh and John, predeceased him. He is surved by his widow, two daughters, Mrs. C.P. Nissen (Oxley, Vic.), Miss McCarron (Peak Hill), and three sons, Robert (Mungery), W.J. (Barrellan), and J.D. (Narromine), for whom sympathy will be expressed in their bereavement. The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon in the Presbyterian portion of the Peak Hill Cemetery, The Rev. H.S. Bunn, conducting the service.

The late Mr. McCarron, who was married to Miss Eliza Denner, of Victoria, in 1878, celebrated their golden wedding last July.
