Charles, George, Enoch, Escott Drew
The original Charles and George Drew arrived in the U.S. from a part of Wales/England (boundaries changed, so sometimes it is considered Wales, and others it has been part of England). I have found census info on Charles and his parents, but have not found George listed with them in the same household. Charles was married to Jane Gardner. George's son, Enoch, married the daughter of Charles (Mary). I am a descendant of that union. The Charles Drew family settled in and around the Mercer County area of Pennsylvania in the city of Sharon and also near the small town of Stoneboro. Some family members also lived, for short periods of time, in the Akron-Canton area of Ohio, as work was plentiful in that area. One of Enoch Drew's sons, Arthur, was a teacher in Canton. Enoch was a farmer and also a musician for Vaudeville type shows in Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio. He played a coronet solo for President William McKinley's Innauguration. (McKinley was from the Canton area). My father, Victor Drew, was the youngest of Enoch and Mary's five children. He was a life-long farmer and also worked for a place that made the tracks for Caterpillar tractors and for another factory that made hydraulic pumps. If you are a Drew descendant, let me know.
