Elizabeth Carter 1837 South Hinksey, Oxfordshire

Journal by Dave Calladine

I am the direct descendant (great great grandson)Elizabeth Carter(Ahnentafel 27). Elizabeth was born the eldest of four children to Thomas Carter (born befor 1802 - Ahnentafel 54) and Mary, the second wife of Thomas, whom he married around 1833.

Thomas's first wife Elizabeth Rouse, who was about the same age as Thomas, had married him in a hurry on June 12, 1815, as he went off to the Napoloic wars. They may have had children on his return, but It was the birth of Vincent, i1832 that killed poor old Elizabeth, and the Widdowed Thomas re-married very quickly to Mary.

Elizabeth was Baptised on October 3, 1838, at St Lawrence South Hinksey.

She had a child Hannah(Ahnentafel 13) out of wedlock which was also baptised on May 2, 1858 at St Lawrence, South Hinksey.
