I am searching for information regarding my paternal grandfather, JOHN FRANCIS MACNULTY, who married my paternal grandmother, GEORGIANNA. JOHN was GEORGIANNA'S second husband. I suspect that she was JOHN'S second wife. My grandmother's maiden surname was DAVID. The surname of her first husband was ROLLINS. I have only a few bits of information about my grandfather. I am still looking for the date and details of his death. As a child, I was told that he died before I was born -- and I was given no further information. I would appreciate any and all help sorting through this.

expiper on 2009-04-16 13:43:10John Francis MacNulty/McNulty was born in Luzerne County, PA on 18 Sep 1875. He was the son of James MacNulty and Mary Hogan, both natives of Ireland. He first married Catherine J. Moore (1880 - 1920) and had seven children with her. Catherine was the daughter of Richard Moore and Julia Kelley.
Spelled MacNulty on John's 1918 draft registration and in the 1920 and 1930 Census. Also spelled MacNulty on his second wife Georgianna's SSDI record.
At the time of his marriage, John lived in Cambridge and worked as a RR brakeman. John was employed by the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad. In January 1903 he was severely injured in an accident at Boston's Congress Street rail yards when he slipped while coupling trains. A car passed over both legs fracturing both below the knees, leading to amputation of his left leg. By 1910 the household had resettled to Pittston, Pennsylvania and included three children: Julia, Mary and Richard. John worked as a bartender at a hotel. (Note: Avoca, Pennsylvania is a burrough of Pittston.)
By September 1918 the household was back in Boston, living at 54 Hancock Street, Dorchester, about 1/2 mile from Richard Moore's home. John's draft registration indicated he was working as a machinist in Roxbury.
At the time of the 1920 Census the (Mac Nulty) household was located at 15 West Cottage Street, Dorchester. John worked as a traveling salesman for a manufacturer. The household now included three additional children: Genevieve, Margaret and John, Jr. (Oddly, Richard Moore's 1919 will makes mention of grandchild Julia only.)
By 1930 John had resettled in Danvers, Massachusetts, remarried and had two more children. John and Georgianna McNulty are listed in the 1935 Danvers directory, but Georgianna is listed alone, thereafter. In the 1962 Danvers directory, she is listed as the widow of John F.
