Journal by kelmark

Charles Dunn born Abt. 1805. Baptised at St John-At-Hackney.

Father's name Charles also, mother unknown although we suspect may be Esther (two sons had daughters named Esther).

Charles' (1805)brothers George, Henry, John, Nicodemus (sometimes Nicholas)& Joseph, all baptised at St John-At-Hackney.

Charles a bit of a rogue, involved in petty theft with brothers Nicodemus and Joseph, eventually transported to NSW, Australia (as were N & J). Charles was imprisoned on the hulk York, but transported on Midas 2 (1827). Trial notes can be found at Old Bailey records site.

When in colony, Charles & Nicodemus both became Ginger Beer Brewers. Charles had children with Mary Ann (have not yet found a marriage) Charles (9 March 1837), Esther (15 November 1838), Lucy (22 March 1841) and Mary Ann (7 March 1843). The children were baptised at St Philips in Sydney.

Charles & Mary Ann lived in the area now known as The Rocks, in Sydney's centre.

Charles died 13 March 1865 in Darlinghurst Gaol, Sydney after yet another conviction.
