Journal by sla45435

I'am the grandaugher of Vida Christina born about 1882 - married Alan John Mooney. First son was my father Allan David Mooney. My maiden name was Sheilagh Mooney. Allan David Mooney was my father. He was born in Tingha. N.S.W. on 4th March, 1905. I'am just starting to reseach my family history.

My Grandparents had 8 children, they lived at Waratah, Newcastle and in their retirement years, they lived at Killaben Bay. Lake Macquarie. N.S.W.
My father was a builder in Newcastle, N.S.W and he had a nickname of Blue Mooney.
Would love to hear from relatives of Vida Christina Mooney (nee Baker ) and Alan John Mooney - who, might be able to help me in my research about my family.

Looking forward to (hopefully ) hearing from someone ( who might be related to me ) in future.
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to list my little article on your "Website"
Would appreciate your help in how to go about - continuing my research in future.

As I'am still learning how to send photo of myself to you. Have to get my daughter to do this for me - and, show me how to do this.
My question? Could I send the photo later - perhaps - in couple days?
Thanks, Sheilagh La Greca

What to do here is, signup as a free member at their homepage. Click on the EMIGRANTS TO AUSTRALIA board. Post a new topic (like a journal here). Try and find out the full names and birth records of your father's siblings and where/when they were born. With genealogy we generally start with ourselves and work backwards trying to obtain as many records as we can on each member in our family tree building upon layers of information so as to build all the branches and create the bigger picture. Photos are fantastic too.

Think about how you are going to store all your information as you will soon be overwhelmed, believe it or not.

Some people go out and spend $ on software packages like 'FamilyTreeMaker', however this is not necessary as there at lots of great FREE stuff. Search here on familytreecircles in the top right-hand corner for 'free', 'freebies', 'newbies', and 'PAF' and have a read of journals I have submitted.

Have fun,
Alison from South East QLD, Australia.
