Kia Ora Would Like To Know More Of Wetini Mahikai and if He Had Any Brothers and Sisters.

Kia ora Apologies for such a long time to respond. The whakapapa that you are asking about is not actually mine but my wifes, She is a waretini from Whaingaroa Wetini who had Ameria and Wahanga My wife comes from Amiria whomarried the Newton who had 5 children from the youngest Maude who married Waretini Pahi who had 12 children my wife is from the 3rd oldest Tutuira Waretini. In regards to Wetini Mahikai and if sibblings are knwon im not sure sorry. Keep in touch.

I'm the only daughter of Raurau the oldest child of Te Mori(maud)and Waretini Pahi. My Grandfather Waretini Pahi aka Pahi Waretini was Ngati Marotaua from Parawera in the Waikato a Ngati Maniapoto sub tribe. Unfortunately I have very little information apart from that but intend to follow it up sometime in the future. Ameria and Teremana had 7 children. Pera, Keiha, Charles, Te Mori, Patukino, Eruini and Maaka.
Te Mori and Pahi had Raurau (Runi), Tarei (Mack) Rihitoto (Rosie)
Tutuira (Tutu) and Gilbert - sorry cant remember uncle Gillys Maori name. Te Mori died in 1924 a year before her mother and a year after her father. Waretini Pahi then remarried. My understanding is that John Clement Newton was Teremana's father. His mother was Maori of Te Ati Awa, Ngati Rahiri and Ngati Ruanui. Teremana's sister married the Anglican Minister Haddon. As I am not home very much I havent had a chance to do much research, my information has come from family members.Maud (Te Mori)died at age 33 as a result of the Flu Pandemic that decimated our people. Her children were brought up by Aunty Toto.
There is some dispute over her relationship to Te Mori, I do know she was not a Newton.I have a feeling that she may have been a Cousin of Ameria because she has shares in many of the same blocks as Wetini Mahikai, she may well have been the daughter of one of Wetini Mahikai's siblings. I'll find out one day.

Nga mihi maorinan, Who were Waretini Pahi 1891-1958 aka Pahi Waretini's parents ? Some say he was a brother to Te Whatau Pahi 1863-1944 and Tuarea Pahi 1867-1944 from Ngati Hinetu/ Rangimahora, but the dates and the hapu don't add up. Kia ora Rondo

Kia ora Rondo, Whanau hoki This is what I understand of Ameria Mahikai daughter of (William)Wetini Mahikai and wife to Te Remana Newton who was the son of John Clement Newton & Te Inga Matanga. Ameria & Te Remana had Charles, Keiha, Rihitoto, Te Mori (Te whanau Waretini) and Pera (Te whanau Watene).
I am aware that Keiha & Kataraina (Aubrey)had children with the names Patukino, Eruini & Maaka. Eruini & Maaka died in their late teens, not sure what of. Patukino was married to Tuwairua( nee Tamati). Patukino & Tuwairua legally adopted Patukino Mahikai Newton, commanly known as Pat, who married Shirley but not sure of Shirleys maiden name. Pat & Shirley had 4 children, I do know their names but am obliged to hold back at this stage but they would be between their late 40's to early 50's by now and possibly living in Australia as I am aware that Patukino (their Dad)was living in Melbourn in the late 1980's. Keiha & Kataraina had other children who lived and had their families. They are now resting in the urupa at Whaingaroa, except for my Dad, Runi Newton, who is resting in the urupa on Taupiri maunga where his mum, Kataraina is also resting, moe mai oku whanau katoa. Ive noticed you have all left out the name of my great great great grandmother. Bella Newton - from my whakapapa knowledge these are the names of the children born to Te Remana and Amiria - rihitoto wetekia, charles paretahinga,bella, maude and keiha - Bella married Pumipi Rukutai - they had Phyllis Mei Rukutai - who married steve watene who then had my grandmother Lully WATENE. I am currently delving deeper into this side of my whakapapa as i do not have alot of info on this - so would love to perhaps share what i do have with all of you and vice versa
