my name is kristine(mcilrath)lee im looking for the mcilrath, shaw,aikman,ruple,everet,jenney,brainard, and other related familys,from the early 1800s from northern ohio to now. does anyone remember samuel,or solon mcilrath. samuel was solons father, solon was married to an eliza ann jenne mcilrath ,who i think was my gggrandfathers parents his name was james mcilrath born about 1850 he also had a younger brother named samuel thomas and a little sister named jane. solon died about 1863, not sure how, but i think it was some kind of accident.i think eliza may have remarried,his name was justin brainard, her mother in laws younger brother, i think she died about 1875. any info. greatly apriciated.thanks much!

Hi Krostine - A Sam McIlrath witenssed the Last Will & Testament of my 6th great-grandfather (John Aikman) in Mendham, Morris Co., NJ in 1754. Sam married John's niece, Isabella Aikman, on 16 March, 1755 in Morrris Co., NJ. He was born there 25 December 1718 and died there 9 August 1804 (in Mendham). He's buried in the Presebyterian Church yard. He was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth McIlrath.

After Sam died Isabella moved to Euclid, Ohio to live with youngest daughter, Sarah McIlrath Shaw. She died and is buried there. Children: Mary b 29 April 1756 d 23 Jan 1797, mrd John Hanler; Andrew b30 Sept 1758, d 16 Feb 1836 mrd (1) Abigail Cozad/Cossart (2) Alice Ward ; Agnes b 24 Aug 1761, d 27 Sept 1838, mrd. (1) James JOnes (2) Caleb Eddy (3) Hosea Blinn; Thomasb 14 Feb 1764, d 25 May 1836, mrd (1) Elizabeth Cozad/Cossart (2) Mrs. Eunice Slawson; Jane, b 4 Oct 1765, d 6 Oct 1824, mrd. Samuel Cozad/o;
Alexander b 5 April 1769, d 26 Aug 1826. mrd. (1) Esther Horton (2) RThoda Condit; Elizabeth b 28 June d 1845, mrd. Peter Rutan; Isabel b 28 Jan 1774, d 2 Aug 1854. mrd. Nathaniel Woodruff and Sarah b 18 March 1777 d 2 Jan 1851 mrd (1) Benjamin Bailey Aikman and (2) John Shaw.

hello, my name is kristine(mcilrath)lee. im a desendent of samuel mcilrath from early new jersy,then to pennsylvania and cuyahoga, oberlin ohio. im pretty sure we are speaking of the same line, how exciteing to finally find someone else whose reseaching the family mcilrath. my grate,grate grandfathers name was james mcilrath, his parents names were solon, son of samuel mcilrath, and eliza ann jenne. his siblings names were samuel thompson, and a little sister named jenne belle. this family was living in ohio when solon was killed in an accident,i dont know what kind of accident, i think he was killed about 1863. write back if you think this is the same family, many, many, thanks kristine(mcilrath)lee.

thomas mcilrath is where our line starts also.he came over from scotland early 1700s, i think first to new jersy then pennsylvania or ohio, cuayhoga county i think its now considerd cleveland ohio.
