I have been researching the paternal side of my family - Hutchinson - for several years and have gathered a great deal of information we never had before. However, I am now stuck and have not been able to locate any information about my great great grandfather, James T. Hutchinson, b. May 19, 1802,Ireland d. Mar 21, 1878, Huron, Ontario, Canada. The only Irish information I have found is the church record of his marriage to Sarah Catherine Colclough in 1836, Dunleckney, Cnty Carlow where it states he is from Galway. I have not found any other records in Ireland. All the information I have gathered has come from Canadian census. James, Sarah and daughter Sophia immigrated to Canada in 1838, he was a Church of England Minister and had several postings in Ontario. They had 13 children.

Did Canada keep records of new immigrants? If so, where can I find them? Does anyone know where I could write to obtain information about his service with the church, where he was ordained/educated? Searching family in Ireland is difficult if you do not have a town/county to start from.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
