If you are not an immediate family member, you must provide
legal documentation, such as a court order establishing
guardianship, that documents a direct and tangible interest in the
birth certificate.

ordered at the same time are $22.00 each.
Notes: For births that occurred within the past
75 years, copies can be requested only by the immediate family of
the person whose name is on the birth certificate.
A personalized Birth Certificate can be obtained from the
Office of Vital Statistics. The Heirloom Birth Certificate makes a
great gift, especially when it's engraved with baby's name and
birth date.

The Central Adoption Registry system provides an avenue for
adult adoptees, birth parents, and biological siblings to locate
one another without having to go through the court system or spend
excessive amounts of time and effort trying to find each other
through other sources.

Notes: The registry does not require registration,
and you have the right to refuse to participate in any
registry.

A specific format of an authentication certificate that is
required by certain countries is called Apostille. This kind of
certificate can only be requested from the Secretary of State's
office.
Fee: $15.00
Notes: If the Certificate/Apostille is requested
for use in proceedings related to an adoption, the fee is $10.00
per Certificate/Apostille, and the total fees may not exceed
$100.00 for the adoption of each child.
Delayed Certificate of Birth Registration
If a birth occurring in this state is not officially
registered within the first year, a Delayed Certificate of Birth
may be requested through the Texas Vital Statistics
office.
Fee: $25.00
Notes: Additional copies of the birth record
ordered at the same time are $22.00 each.
The Paternity and Parentage Team at Texas Vital Statistics
is responsible for amending birth records based on
parentage.

Certified Copy Fee: $10.00
Notes: Once paternity has been established, the
father's name is placed on the birth certificate.
Remarks: A court can order him to pay child
support and grant him the right to visitation or possession of his
child.

The Texas Vital Statistics can only provide a verification letter stating whether or not a marriage was recorded with the State of Texas. Request for marriage verification can be made via the internet, with a credit card, through Texas.gov.

To commemorate the proud institution of marriage, the Texas
Legislature has authorized the creation of an "heirloom" wedding
anniversary certificate.
Fee: $60.00
Notes: This certificate may be customized to
recognize a couple's wedding anniversary - from the first to the
one hundredth.
Remarks: This is not a legal certificate of marriage and it does not establish and may not be used to establish a marriage relationship. A legal certificate of marriage can only be obtained from the county clerk's office in which the marriage license was purchased and filed.
