I'm a native-born Australian living in Italy. My birth mother - Viola Muriel DAWSON 1918-2014 - was born at Red Hill, Brisbane and adopted when she was 6 yrs old by Richard Cyprian WALLIS and Ellen TAIT of Brisbane. Viola's natural Father: Thomas 'Mick'DAWSON of Brisbane Mother: Ivy Olive CAMPBELL of Cunnamulla. Am looking for info on Ivy's birth mother. I have come up so far wit a LEONTINE LEOPOLD b.1848 Rio de Janeiro - Father: Auguste LEOPOLD Mother: Elizabeth FROMHEIM both of HAMBURG - but can't find any proof of her arrival to Australia nor her marriage to Ivy's father ALEXANDER P. CAMPBELL - originally of Northshields,UK. His mother: Isabella PETERSON b.1833 married Joseph CAMPBELL b.1821. Alexander P. CAMPBELL worked as a miner who moved through Ballarat, Bendigo, Amhurst, Hay and Cunnamulla. Looks like he fathered 9 children from 1867 starting with Isabella Maud up thru 1891 with Albert Edward. IVY OLIVE was one of his six daughters. Does anyone reading this have any info to share with me on any of these people?
