Looking for ancestors of GLYNN, Phila.; DAVIS, Pennsylvania; SULLIVAN, Maine/Massachusetts
Hello,
My name is Frank Sullivan. I have been working on the history of my extended family for over 15 years, intensively during the last two. I have a tree on Ancestry.com that extends back over 30 generations and includes many photos, stories and records. Currently, I am focusing on the Irish strain of my more recent ancestors. As I'm sure you know well, it is quite hard to trace our Irish forebears back into the old sod.
On my father's side, I am looking for information on Cecelia Glyn. She immigrated (from County Mayo, I think)in the late 1880's or early 90's, probably to Philadelphia. In 1900, census records show her living in the city with her mother (first name is, I am pretty sure, "Margaret" or "Margred," but I have no last name) and her sister, "Meanu" (who married "James Crean" in 1901, moving to San Franciso). She married my grandfather, James Francis Sullivan, in Philadelphia in 1902; they moved to Camden, NJ, where they remained for the rest of their lives.
Also on my father's side, I am tracking the ancestors of Flourence Sullivan. According to the 1840 Federal Census, he was born in Ireland in 1806, applying for citizenship in Oct 1840 according to Maine records. He married Catherine O'Connell, from Limerick, in 1839. He died in 1882, Springfield Ma., having fathered 11 children.
On my mother's side, I am looking for ancestors of John Davis. He was born in Ireland ca. 1839. He married Mary Meehan (b. ca. 1850, d. ?). Their first child, Michael, was born in Ireland ca 1868. His remaining 3 children were born in Lackawanna Cnty, PA. where he lived until his death in 1880, of consumption.
I aopologize if I am asking for too much information on my first posting. I am most happy to help anyone whose family tree intersects with mine.
