Looking for any information on publican William Robertson who operated the first hotel in North Melbourne called the North Star Hotel.

Question by Hotham_Hotels

Still hopeful for something - William Robertson opened the North Star Hotel, an early landmark of North Melbourne in Howard Street, North Melbourne. It is often referred to as being on the Flemington Road. The first notice I have found is an advertisement in The Argus 1 January 1853 - with Robertson informing of the opening and operation of the hotel. It is curious then why he transferred the license to Henry Gibbons Carpenter in September 1853 - just 9 months later. Any information welcome.
