Looking for anyone with information on the Cremeens family of IL, OH, and NE.
Dr. George Linza Cremeens of Springerton IL died around 1947. He had a son, Lyle Martin Cremeens, and I believe another son, Estes Cremeens who had a daughter named Jennie Miller. Lyle had three children, two sons and one daughter. The eldest son was born in 1920 and was named James Linza Cremeens. The other son was Warren Eugine Cremeens; and the daughter was Kathryn Cremeens Shepman. Lyle Cremeens was married to Leona Marie Springer. All three children served in the military durring WWII. I have information on the children of George's son Lyle, but would be very much interested in any information dating before The family moved to IL. I know they lived somewhere in Ohio at one time, and have been told that Nebraska was the starting point for the Cremeens family in the US. They are of Scots /Irish descent.

Re: The Cremeens family
Nebraska was "not" the starting point for the Cremeens family. As a matter of fact I believed that the starting point was Ohio. You should check in Quebec, Montreal for further information. They are (also) from French descent. I'm a Cremeens from Nebraska and our grand parents were from the Illnois area. Check under Moses Cremeens.
P.S. I was very happy that you posted this information to the board. Both my brother and I have been arguing about the Scot/Irish descent....I told him that we're more from the Scots side than the Irish side. Although, Check in Ireland history (though) under McCarthy Castle. McCarthy married our gggggreat grandmother and the name McCarthy/CreMeens is interchangable, from what I understand.
From what I understood, is that my branch of the family settled in South West Ohio, with some members moving to Benton, IL, and some to Elgin, IL. This is the branch I come from. Orley Cremeens was married to a Bertha, who was widowed and married a William Kitchen. A very nice man. Orley had a son named Seeber Frank Cremeens, who went by the name of Tony. He had three children with Vera Witt from Carpentersville, IL next to Elgin. These children included Gerald Eugene who died two years ago, and had a daughter Candace, son Gregory, and son Richard. Grandpa Tony taught the boys how to butch meat, though he was an accountant by trade. He had two stores in Rockford. Candy had two children, Greg had two children? and Richard had two or three children. My father who died at the age of 30 years old had two twin daughters. Pamela Rae and Paula Kae (me). To the best of my knowledge, we are Irish from County Cork, Ireland.
