I know that Joseph, Maria, Charlotte and Henry were all born in the UK. I am wanting to know if they had siblings and who they were. There are a lot of repeated names in the family and I am having difficulty sorting the generations.I can track back to Harry Joseph and Dorothy Constance who were my grandparents but have a gap between them and Joseph John and Maria. I need names, dates etc so I can sort.I have Maria's death in 1911, which would have been in Vic.I know Joseph John was born 1825 (about). From my own memory I can recall great uncles Charles,B1892, William,B?, Leslie,B?, and great aunts Alice,B?, Lottie,B1881, and Clara B1883, so they would have been Harry Joseph's, B1890, siblings but can't get back to Joseph John. I have tried trawling through Trove and have filled some gaps, but Baldwin crops up as a locomotive, a runner,a racehorse and an English Prime Minister all around the same time frame so searches are often mind blowing. Anything you can find to help me fill this gap would be greatly appreciated. I will look forward to any help whatsoever.

Father: Joseph BALDWIN.
Mother: Elizabeth EDWARDS.

Maria BALDWIN.
Died: 1911 Croydon, Victoria, aged 88 years.
Father: Robert ROBERTS.
Mother: Maria unknown.

Remember ... informants ofter gave the wrong parents names and ages of the deceased
so look outside the square and allow for errors.

If you can confirm Maria's maiden name was ROBERTS I will searche the VBI for her children.

Hi tonkin, You are amazing!! That looks like them, ages only slightly out from what I've been able to glean, but as you say it is only informants knowledge of deceased.
Confirm Maria's maiden name was ROBERTS- she was married before her marriage to Joseph, but her maiden name definitely ROBERTS. That also now confirms an English question that was holding things up.
At last some more to work on.

To answer first query- yes Maria ROBERTS became Maria Kellett/Kellitt (sp. varies) before she married Joseph.

It looks like Joseph and Maria only had three children after coming to Australia. But it is possible they had a few more and the births were never registered.

That has filled in many of the blanks I have had and now I need to find any children of the following marriages, in essence the next generation.

From what I can gather the female Baldwins died fairly young, Elizabeth appears to be the only one who married, and she was evidently not a well person and died childless.Charlotte and Alice don't appear to have married at all.

According to my records Joseph John Baldwin married Maria Kellett nee Roberts in St Mary's Huggerston, Middlesex, England. Maria's parents were Robert Roberts, blacksmith and mother Maria (maiden name unknown). Maria married a George Kellett and they had a daughter Charlotte (Lottie) Kellett. After the death of George, Maria married Joseph Baldwin. Joseph and Maria with Charlotte aged 3 and Henry John 3 months old left England on the "Gloriana in 1852. Joseph set up a butcher shop in Bay Street, Sandridge now Port Melbourne after their arrival in 1853. Elizabeth (Lizzie) Mary was born in 1855 in Sandridge Alice Jane born 1859 died 31 August 1886 and William James born 1864 William married twice but did not have any children. First wife Selina (Lena) Knight died 1913 second wife Mary Juanita (Nita) Hawke adopted a baby girl - Dorothy Baldwin who married becoming Dorothy Axsentieff.
