Hi Janilye
Thank you very much for your reply. 3240/1888
charles and Eva Rae are my paternal grandparents, Their grave is in Glenmore NSW cemetary.
I am having problems associating Charles and Emma Jane as the parents of Charles
so I may have to make a trip to Sydney bd&m to search.
Again thank you
Tom Rae
I can understand what you mean, my grandfathe's death certificate gave his mother as Colin Malcolm Eather and Charlotte Lovell when in Fact it was Alfred McAlpin Eather and Theresa Lovelee. The informant was his second wife and her brother!
I have had it since corrected.
Is this the death below you're not sure about?

I see no mention of your Charles and Eva in any of these notices (wrong straws).
I found this curious notice which probably has nothing to do with anything. It was just the two names Moore and Rae linked, which gave me reason to pause. Just passing it on to you.

Dear Tom Rae
I have just come across this website and read your enquiries.
I am a great granddaughter of Charles and Eva Rae by their daughter Alice Maude (married Charles Napier). I have a fair bit of information on the Raes which might answer most of your questions.
1. Charles Seaton Rae was born 1830 in Pitmedden Scotland to Charles and Helen (Forrest). He married Jane Duncan 02/11/1851 in Udny Scotland.
2. They migrated to Melbourne in 1855 on the Gambia. Occupation Blacksmith and Coachbuilder.
3. Charles born 1861 in Melbourne. Family moved to Forbes NSW in 1864
4. Jane Duncan died in childbirth 11/01/1868
So Jane and Charles are our ancestors.
5. Charles Seaton Rae married Mrs. Emma Wright, nee Bradford in June 1868.
6. In 1886 Emma and Charles retired to Sydney where he died 02/09/1912 and she on 13/08/1916, both in Croydon Park.
7. Charles jnr married Eva Moore14/06/1888 in Redfern.
8. Eva's history very interesting. She was the daughter of Ellen Moore (Joseph and Matilda Drake (both children of convicts)). A married National School teacher William Carvasso Wearne was appointed 1/1864 to the new Glenmore school and boarded with Joseph and Matilda, Ellen's parents. He was dismissed 1/1865 on the petition of Joseph Moore. Eva was born 09/1865. Family lore has Wearne as Eva's father. Ellen and Eva stayed within the family on the Camden Glenmore property until Ellen married a Roberts in 1878. There is no mention Of Eva as one of Ellen's children on her obelisk in the Glenmore family cemetery.
Hope all this info is not too late and is of interest. Have lots more and photos and have visited all the Scottish and English ancestral villages and cemeteries.
