Do you have any idea of Maud Coatsworth's birth year, the year's she married Gibson and Dumble. Gibson and Dumble do you know their christen names. When did she arrive in Australia and do you have any idea of her parents names?

thanks wizard28 for your interest the only information I have is as follows,
George Herbert Gibson 1893-1916 killed in france
married Maud Coatsworth 2DEC1915 at St Johns church Hipswell c/-York
had a son Herbert Fredrick Gibson born 14JUN1916
Maud later married Frank Dumble and migrated to Australia in the late 1940s or early 1950s finally settling in Tasmania.
that's all I know but am trying to find out more of course.

Coatsworth and are from Tunstall in England. Are you sure the family are from Tunstall which is in Staffordshire. She married in Yorkshire.

I could not find a marriage for a Maud Coatesworth but did find this:

Marriage
Name: Maud Gibson
Spouse Surname: Dumble
Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1919
Registration district: Darlington
Inferred County: Durham
Volume Number: 10a

It might be your Maud marrying under her previous married name.

Sorry just found a small village called Tunstall near Richmond, North Yorkshire. That might help the search for Maud.

by wizard28 on 2015-02-25 05:25:24

I have looked at the Parish marriage record and it does not show a father for Maud.

States : Age 21 Birth year 1894 Residence Tunstall

With out either of her parents it will be difficult to trace her family. If the marriage above to Francis Dumble is your Maud it might have a fathers name on the cert but !!

I could not find a birth or baptism

Did Maud marry Francis Dumble? Did they have two daughters Majorie & Rita?

by Morgan2409 on 2015-02-25 06:03:34

The inbound shipping states that this family was going to live at 97 Main Road, Glenorchy, Tasmania (I think it is the residence of Francis's Grandfather)

HEADSTONE INSCRIPTION Cornelian Bay Cemetery, Tasmania

I agree without a father and mother on marriage certificate it is not easy to continue back in the family search that's why I asked for help. I don't know how they didn't have to give evidence of father or mother, but maybe she was raised by relatives like my mother was as her mother died at birth. it makes it hard but I would like to thank you Morgan2409 and Wizard28 for the great work in giving me all the information above as I can now show the kids a bit of history ...once again a big thanks . dave

Maud's mother may not have been married ?

Have you looked to see if Maud was in the workhouse. With her mother or because her mother died or she was abandoned.

The nearest workhouse I think was in Richmond. Try this link

Perhaps try : http://www.northyorks.gov.uk/article/23584/County-record-office

They hold the (Guardians' minutes (1837-1878, 1882-1930)

Did Maud have a middle name ?

Do yo have this record for George Herbert Gibson, strange it does not list his wife's name.
