Cogans- I found parts of my family in America,Austraila, etc.
Swards- Came from Sweden in 1892 to Ashtabula county Ohio USA.

Whilst doing some research in Perth I found 25 COGAN AND 1 Sward buried in the West Australia cemetery Karrakatta

Maybe some are descendants of your line

There were very few Sward's in Australia. No Sward Births in New South Wales up to 1910.
But Tasmania had a family of SWARDs well researched.
Emanuel SWARD born 16 MAY 1852 in Island of Sao Jorge, Western island Portugal. Nobody seems to know his heritage or parents. He was probably a sailor. He died 12 JAN 1919 in Simpsons Bay, Tasmania, Australia married Mary Ann Lovegrove born 17 OCT 1854 in Flower Pot Tasmania. I can give you all the children if you want them. There are photos of the family on this site. I found them when I was doing some research for someone re- Bruny Island.

My grandmother was Myra Sward she was born on Bruny Island, Tasmania on the 23/10/1911, sister of Kath Sward, daughter's of Emmanuel Sward who hailed from Portugal.
