I am researching the Cole line of my family tree. My great grandfather was James Edward Cole was born in Cardiff, Wales in 1869 and died in Diggers Rest, Victoria, Australia in 1923. He married Mary Elizabeth Wynne.27 September 1894. His mother was Catherine Mc Carthy and his father was Nicholas Cole both of whom were born in Ireland, possibly Limmerick. This information comes from James Edward's death certificate. I am fairly sure that James had a brother, Robert. We believe that some of the family emigrated to America as when the American fleet was in Melbourne in 1925 Mary Elizabeth, her daughter Violet Cole and her daughter, Betty were invited to visit 'their relative' William Carey Cole about his ship. I have been hitting a brick wall about what happened to Nicholas Cole and how and when part of the family moved to America.
