Looking for CORVIN/COLVIN of Wythe Co. Virginia

Query by icequeen

I have been researching the Corvin's of Wythe Co. for many years now. I've been able to go back 9 generation to abt.1720 and have hit a brick wall. I believe they were org. called Colvin. Mr. Colvin and his wife Susannah Gale had one son John who married Elizabeth Kriger (Creager) had 5 sons and 2 dau. all stayed in Wythe Co. Va. and took the spelling of CORVIN except 2 who branched out to Tn. and Al. who used the spelling of COLVIN.

HI!!
My husband's grandmother (still living) is almost 90. Her maiden name was Corvin. Her grandfather was William I Corvin of TN. That is about as far back as I have been able to find. But, apparently, she does recall that Corvin used to be another last name. She said that they thought it was Calvin. She said it was probably to throw off some authorities b/c they were in trouble. Anyhow, this William I Corvin supposedly married a Ella Pollard, dau. of Thomas Pollard whom owned 49 slaves!

I have been trying to find information on anything for over a year! Let's compare & see what we come up with!! :)

Thanks - Bethany
