Marriage record for Benj. H. Crews and Ruth Elizabeth Strange dated Nov. 16, 1855 Knox Co., Tn. Benjamin born about 1830, Tn., Ruth born, May 2, 1838, Virginia. They had one child, Florence C., born about 1856-57, Roane Co., Tn. Ruth marries #2 William H. Letsingerin 1858 in Roane Co., Tn. I can't find what happened to Benjamin, I don't know if he died or they divorced. Pension papers of Letsinger states that he married Ruth Crews so that leads me to believe that Benjamin died but I don't know how to prove that.

Benjamin was the son of Toliver Cruoze/Cruze, born N.C. about 1810. Tolivers wife was Alvioa, also born N.C. about 1810 (1850 census, Monroe Co., Tn.. I have tried researching Toliver's family since I couldn't find Benjamin but can't find that name. Toliver & Alvioa had six children with them in 1850, Benjamin 20, Elizabeth 15, David 12, Thomas 8, Toliver 7 and Abira 5 - all born Tn. I found Thomas and Toliver in Murphysboro, Jackson Co., Ill. Toliver had married Christina Jagamann, they had sons, Joseph & Frank who went by Jagamann after Toliver & Christina divorced in 1876 - find anything on them either. Everywhere I go runs into a dead end. Thomas married Margaret McCord - stepchild, maybe an adopted son, Lewis.
Haven't found anything on the rest of Toliver's (Sr.) children.
Florence, daughter of Benjamin never married but had children, my grandfather , William Omar born 1877, Lenior City, Loudon Co., Tn.
