My great grandfather Daniel Florence McCarthy was born in the Caheragh Parish [near Bantry] West Cork Irealnd c1851. He emigrated to New Zealand in 1877 and married Isabella McKenzie in Masterton in 1878. They moved to Australia 1884/85 and lived in Gympie, Queensland. Isabella died in 1889. At that time Daniel was apparently working on The Croydon [goldfields in far north Queensland]. I have lost contact with him since that time. He does not appear to have died in Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales or New Zealand. There are several possible marriages in Australia, Queensland in particular, but I have not been able to substantiate them as yet. Can anyone throw any light on my predicament?
