My great grandfather, either Mark or Mart Dean, married to Lucretia J. Sparks (b. 1866 d.1940) father of Mary Lee, Pearlie, and Rosa. The family story is that M. Dean went to the military and never returned. I am not sure where or when he was born or his parents names. Lucreia's parents were Julia E. Cox Sparks(b.1846 in Virginia d. 1926 Elliott, Ky) and Mark P. Cox (b.1 Jul 1812,Montgomery VA d. 7 Oct 1897 in Gimlet, Elliott, KY). Daughter Mary Lee (b. 1 Jun 1892, d. 18 Dec 1995,Morehead, Rowan Co., KY) married Reason Mauk. They had no children. Pearlie May Dean (b.about 1890 in KY, d. 10 Jun 1979 in Morehead, Rowan Co., KY) she married Charles Oscar Lewis. They had several children, Ida, Mary Magdelene, Lance Wylie, Mont Edward, Warner, May, James Cecil, Ilie Goble (died in infancy), and Pearl Dean.
