Looking for DONKIN of Northumberland

Query by Jaydee

I am currently researching Donkin. I have a direct line back to William Donkin born in Northumberland who emigrated to South Australia in 1854. Born 10 June 1827 at Shilbottle, Father Robert Donkin, Mother Elizabeth?

Robert Donkin is shown in the 1841 Census as a Husbandman at Wood House. It is believed he worked for either the Duke or Earl of Northumberland.

Apart from that I've drawn a blank

Hi 246,

You say you're a descendant of Robert Donkin. Are we talking about the same Robert Donkin because it is/was a very popular name in the Donkin lineage.

I would like to find out more about Robert Donkin and his wife Elizabeth. Can you help?

Regards
Jackie Donkin

Hi,

We're interested in finding out more about ancestary links to Sir Rufane Donkin, who founded Port Elizabeth in South Africa in the 1800s. Don't know where to start, though!
My husband is a Donkin and I'm going to get some xtra info from my father-in-law, but would appreciate any info or links you may have.

Thanks and regards,
Juliette Donkin
