Looking for Elizabeth Carr of Hants County, NS married Lewis Ettinger
Any info on last name "Carr" from Minesville/Burntcoat area, very interested. Elizabeth married a Lewis Ettinger. I understand her father was a "higher up" in the 84th regiment in 1800's, and Lewis served under him.

Hi There,
I just found a "gold-mine" on the Ettinger and Carr family, and would love to share.
I've been trying to find Lewis Ettinger's parents for my family tree, but have found more on Elisabeth's side of the family.
Firstly, her first name is spelled with an "S", rather than a "Z" in it.
Secondly, through my research, I've found that her surname was shortened to Carr. It was originally Carrier".
Same with Lewis; His original name was Ludwig Edinger (and landed in PA, USA from Germany). His name was later changed to Louis or Lewis Ettinger.
Elisabeth's parents, and the rest of her lineage can be found at the following URL. It's too long to attempt to write on here.

You will see Lewis/Louis/Ludwig Ettinger's info on her, as well as Elisabeth listed under the "spouse" column. His parents are listed as "unknown", so that's where I'm getting stuck.
Anyhow, click on her name, and it will take you to another page with her parent's information on it. You will not only find her information, but also, her parent's, parent's (siblings, spouses) etc.
They date back to France.
I'm sorry that I can't help you with your specific question, and haven't the slightest idea of where to look for that. Except for maybe Ancestry.com's military/war records.
I hope that I've helped you a little bit, and please accept my apologies for not being able to answer your specific questions.
I'd also love to know about any military service within my family tree.
My great grandfather was Alfred James Ettinger, and he was married to Barbara Downie White. Her history is a mystery, so i decided to research my great grandpa's side of the family instead.
They definately have a very interesting history as a family, and I'm always looking for more information.
Good luck on your journey, and please let me know if you find anything at all regarding either side of the Ettinger/Downie-White/Carr families.
If you have anymore questions, I would be more than happy to help you :)
Warmest Wishes,
